Samsung Galaxy S24+, Exynos 2400 Empowers High-Level Gaming

Exynos 2400 - Samsung has once again captured the attention of technology enthusiasts, particularly gaming enthusiasts, with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S24+. This latest flagship smartphone boasts the formidable Exynos 2400 chipset. While the regular and Plus variants of the S24 series are also available with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Indonesian market is fortunate to have both versions equipped with the Exynos 2400. This chipset succeeds the Exynos 2200, previously featured in the Samsung Galaxy S22 series in Europe and the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE in Indonesia.

The Exynos 2400 introduces several noteworthy improvements over its predecessor, particularly in CPU performance and artificial intelligence (AI). In performance testing, the CPU of the Exynos 2400 demonstrated a 1.7-fold increase compared to the Exynos 2200 used in the Galaxy S22 series. Meanwhile, its AI capabilities surged by an impressive 14.7 times, showcasing significant advancements in intelligent data processing.

Comprising ten processor cores, the Exynos 2400's specifications include one Cortex X4 unit (3.21 GHz), two performance Cortex A720 units (2.9 GHz), three performance Cortex A720 cores (2.6 GHz), and four power-efficient cores (Cortex A520). Manufactured using Samsung's 4 nm LPP (Low Power Plus) process, the same technology found in the Google Tensor G3, the Exynos 2400 also features a graphics processing unit (GPU) in the form of the Xclipse 940, based on AMD's RDNA 3 architecture.

The prowess of the Exynos 2400's GPU extends beyond high performance, supporting an array of visual effects that enhance gaming graphics quality. Effects such as ray tracing, reflection, shadow rendering, and global illumination contribute to a more realistic and immersive gaming experience.

In Geekbench 6 performance tests, the Exynos variant of the Galaxy S24+ delivered impressive scores. Achieving 2,082 points in the single-core category and 6,582 points in the multi-core category, it outperformed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used in the 2023 Galaxy S23 series by a significant margin. The GPU Geekbench 6 test further highlighted the superiority of the Galaxy S24+ Exynos, scoring 13,175 points compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the Sony Xperia 5 V.

The significance of performance in the gaming experience became evident in the Genshin Impact test. With settings at the Highest 60 FPS and 5G network connectivity, the Galaxy S24+ provided a commendable and acceptable gaming experience. This excellence extended to the realm of game emulators, such as Yuzu, Citra, and Dolphin.

According to reports from Nasilemaktech.com, the Galaxy S24+ Exynos variant proved capable in emulator challenges. Testing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the smartphone achieved frame rates between 25-30 FPS, offering a comfortable gaming experience, albeit not always perfectly smooth. When playing Rachet and Clank on the AetherSX2 PS2 emulator, the game ran seamlessly, akin to the original console experience. The same fluidity was experienced when playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on the Dolphin GameCube emulator, with a smooth and consistent frame rate.

The Galaxy S24+'s performance in running the Citra emulator for Nintendo 3DS games is also commendable. Playing Cooking Mama on the emulator was smooth and responsive, with gestures for cutting food and cooking on the touchscreen exhibiting high responsiveness.

While its performance may not match that of the Galaxy S23 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Galaxy S24+ Exynos still provides a satisfying gaming experience in the flagship price range. Any glitches or suboptimal graphic rendering in certain games may be attributed to the relatively new Exynos 2400 chipset, introduced in early 2024. Developers are likely to optimize their games to enhance compatibility with this chipset.

In addition to its impressive gaming performance, the Galaxy S24+ brings improvements to its memory specifications. The LPDDR5x RAM with a capacity of 12 GB supports enhanced multitasking performance, providing users with more space to run multiple applications and games simultaneously. This is a significant upgrade from the previous series, which featured 8 GB of RAM. As for storage, the Galaxy S24+ utilizes UFS 4.0 standards, offering options of 256 GB and 512 GB capacities, ensuring users have ample storage for apps, photos, videos, and more.

Another noteworthy feature of the Galaxy S24+ is its vapor chamber cooling system, which is 1.9 times larger than that of the Galaxy S23+. This advanced cooling system is effective in maintaining optimal temperatures during intensive usage, particularly when playing resource-demanding games or running high-performance applications.
